Boyd Atkins, born in Paducah, KY, was a saxophonist, violinist, and music composer; Louis Armstrong recorded his most famous song, "Heebie Jeebies." Atkins was reared in St. Louis and played with a number of bands and performers, including Dewey Jackson and Paducah, KY, native Fate Marable. He later moved to Chicago, where he led his own band.
