Hokins [Hawkins], Fred
(born: 1863) Hokins was a horse trainer at a race track in Puerto Rico. He is one of the unknown number of African American horsemen who lived and worked outside the U.S. mainland. Born in Kentucky, Hokins lived in Hato Rey, Río Piedras Municipality, according to the 1930 U.S. Federal Census. [His last name may have been Hawkins.] [Río Piedras is a former municipality that is now part of San Juan.]
