African American WACs Who Were Born in Kentucky

This is a partial list of the African American women born in Kentucky and served in the WACs. The information comes from the WWII Army Enlistment Records. WACs [Women's Army Corps] was the women's branch of the U.S. Army that was established in 1943. It was previously an auxiliary unit called WAACs [Women's Army Auxiliary Corps, formed in 1942 by Public Law 554. The WACs were disbanded in 1973 and all units were integrated into the U.S. Army.
